Ganguly, a 2-year old baby is the son of a gardener in a residential layout at Bangalore. He was born with a nasal cyst close to his eyes. Doctors had asked the parents to keep watch and do follow-up checks if the cyst started growing. After a year, the cyst started growing and has now become quite big. If it continues to grow, it can affect the eye-sight and breathing for Ganguly.
He is now being treated by Dr. Vijay Joseph at St. John’s hospital, Bangalore. Misha, our associate at the social work department of St.John’s hospital expedited the cause and facilitated quick consultation with Dr. Vijay and Dr. Maria, the pediatrician. For the past 3-4 months, the doctors have been trying medications to bring down the cyst, but without success. Surgery is the only option left now, and Dr. Vijay has scheduled the procedure for June 19th, 2014.
Ganguly’s parents are illiterate and his father’s earnings are not nearly enough to cover the surgery charges, in spite of the doctor waiving off his fee. The total cost of the surgery would come to Rs. 25,000.
