Surendra, son of Raja and Umadevi living in Economically Weaker Section(EWS) Quarters in Bangalore, India has not been able to go to school this academic year since his parents don’t have enough money to pay the school fee. Raja who was a construction worker had a fall at his work site, and suffered several injuries to his spine 3 years back. He has not been able to work since. Umadevi is a woman security guard at St. John’s hospital, Bangalore, earning Rs.13,000 per month, not nearly enough to meet all their expenses.
They are staying in a small two bedroom house and already paying back other loans that were taken for Raja’s treatment. Surendra also has two elder sisters studying in college. Umadevi managed to send her son to a good school for couple of years with some assistance from MicroCharity and also other well-wishers.
The total fee for this academic year is Rs. 40,000 and they approached MicroCharity for financial assistance.
