Medical Treatment for Varkey

V J Varkey from Kottayam, Kerala has been suffering from kidney failure, diabetes and consequent vision impairment for the past 4 years. He is currently undergoing haemodialysis and also taking Avastin injection for vision improvement. The total cost for treatment comes to Rs. 25,000 per month.
Varkey was engaged in farming before he fell ill. He stays with his wife, a pensioner earning Rs. 16,000 a month and their son, who is an engineering student. The family has no means of income other than the pension, to continue Varkey’s growing medical expenses. They approached MicroCharity for financial assistance. MicroCharity has offered to support with Rs. 15,000 per month for six months.
