V J Varkey from Kottayam, Kerala has been suffering from kidney failure, diabetes and consequent vision impairment for the past 4 years. He is currently undergoing haemodialysis and also taking Avastin injection for vision improvement. The total cost for treatment comes to Rs. 25,000 per month.
Varkey was engaged in farming before he fell ill. He stays with his wife, a pensioner earning Rs. 16,000 a month and their son, who is an engineering student.
