Sunil Mondal, 32-year old construction coolie worker from West Bengal, India, suffered a work place injury 3 months back rendering him a paraplegic. Suffering from traumatic paraplegia, with L1, L2 compression, Sunil is not able to move without assistance. He is currently undergoing conservative rehabilitation treatment at St. John’s hospital, Bangalore. His hemoglobin and nutrition levels are also very low.
Sunil stays with his wife, father and mother who are unemployed. His 3 brothers are employed as daily wage jobs, not earning enough to sustain the family. He also has 3 married sisters. The family is struggling to even buy food during his hospital stay, and had to take help from the hospital’s social work department for money. Sunil’s treatment cost is approximately Rs. 2 lakhs. They approached MicroCharity for financial support in paying the hospital bills.
