Rahul is a 20-year old graduate from Kottarakkara, Kerala. While doing his graduation from St.Stephens college, Pathanapuram, he fell ill. Investigations revealed that both his kidneys had failed, and dialysis was started to keep him alive. After tests at Amrita hospital, Ernakulam, he was recommended for kidney transplantation. His mother was considered a likely donor at that time, but further tests came out negative. The cost for kidney transplantation would come to Rs. 5 lakhs provided his mother is the donor. But since that turned out negative, Rahul had to wait for quite some time to find another donor.

Finally, a donor was found and the transplantation was completed successfully a few days back. Rahul is recovering now. Rahul’s family is poor and recently they had to mortgage their property for a heart surgery for his father. Rahul’s medical expenses and dialysis costs are also putting a heavy burden on this household, so much so that they are struggling to meet their daily expenses. A few well-wishers have raised Rs. 2 lakh and Rahul’s family got Rs. 3 lakhs by mortgaging their house. The family requested MicroCharity to help with ongoing medical expenses.
