Shibu, Sheena and their four young children – the youngest a six month old infant – live in a tarp-covered temporary shelter. Shibu was an alcoholic. The family doesn’t even have proper clothing and the children are usually starving. Many well wishers have been working with the family to improve their living conditions. Shibu has finally quit drinking with the help of a priest and spiritual retreats.
The panchayath is providing a loan to the family under the Government scheme for homeless people. The panchayath has already paid the first installment to construct the floor, but the family couldn’t complete the construction. If the floor is not ready within two months, the panchayath loan will go lapse and further construction wouldn’t be possible. The panchayath will continue to support the construction only if the floor is complete within two months.
The family is in urgent need of Rs. 20,000 to complete construction of the floor within due time. The family has requested support from MicroCharity to accomplish their dream. Shibu has assured that he will work hard to complete the construction, and further support from MicroCharity wouldn’t be required.
