Narasimha Murthy was a daily wage construction worker living with his wife and three children in Magadi, Karnataka. In an incident that changed his life drastically, he fell from the top of a tree and got severally injured, paralyzing himself from hip down. He was under treatment at St. John’s Hospital, Bangalore for the past 2 years and now moves around in a wheel chair.
He is keen to find out some means to support his family and education of his children. He received some land from his in-laws and wants to setup a chicken farm shed in that land. Once the basic structure is set up, he can tie-up with other farms who will supply the chicks, feed, medicines etc. His job will be to take care of the birds and once the chicken are around 2 kg, he could sell them back to the farms.
Murthy’s plan is to build a farm big enough to fetch him Rs. 15,000 per month. The total cost of the shed would be around Rs. 1 Lakh including all feeding equipment. He approached MicroCharity for financial help, with a promise to start contributing to future cases on MicroCharity once he starts receiving returns from his venture.
