Greeshma is a higher secondary student and an inmate of St. Antony’s Girls Home, an orphanage for teenage girls. Her elder sister is a nursing student. Her younger sister is at another orphanage. They lost their parents a few years ago.

In 2007, the family took a bank loan of Rs. 50,000 to complete the construction of their small house. But they could never complete it. The mother died soon after they paid the first installment of Rs. 1,000. The father soon became addicted to alcohol and never paid another premium. He died in 2011 leaving three children orphan.

Seeing the situation, the bank didn’t charge interest for a while, but they wanted the principle amount to be paid. Since the siblings had no income, they couldn’t pay back. Now, the bank has issued a foreclosure notice. The overall fund required to prevent the foreclosure is Rs. 71,000. They have received Rs. 39,500 from various sources, and they need Rs. 31,500 to prevent the foreclosure.
