School fee for tribal children in Assam

Donors: 5
Apr 10, 2021 - Kamrup, Assam (MCID-101-21-22)
DeMatha English Medium School is a school in the tribal area of Kamrup district in Assam, run by the Trinitarians, priests belonging to The Order of the Most Holy Trinity. Most of the students are from the surrounding villages, which are economically backward areas. The villagers earn their income from cattle rearing and daily wage work, and are not keen on sending their children to school.

The Trinitarian fathers, as part of their mission, are encouraging the children to come, even if their parents cannot afford the school fee. Total expenses for one child per year comes to Rs. 10,000 including admission fee, monthly fee, books, and uniform. But there are many parents who cannot afford this amount.

So the priests reached out to MicroCharity for financial assistance in sponsoring 5 children. For a meager sum of Rs.10,000, we can lift the lives of children who would otherwise spend their lives illiterate, without any job opportunities. We appeal to our donors to help us in this cause, so that the children can start attending school.

Tribal children at DeMatha English Medium School have a high chance of dropping out due to financial constraints. Trinitarian priests are doing their best to provide high-quality education to children from these villages, that are already suffering from low rates of literacy, which leads to higher rates of unemployment, crime, and alcoholism.

MicroCharity is supporting 2 children this year at a cost of Rs. 12,000 per student for uniform, books, and school fee.

MicroCharity approves fund request of Rs. 24,000.
