Lijo needs our help in his post-kidney transplant care and treatment. He has been suffering from Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) for the past 12 years, undergoing regular dialysis. One of his kidneys was removed in 2018. In September 2021, he underwent a kidney transplant under the Kerala government’s Mrithasanjeevani scheme.
After the transplant, he needs to stay near the hospital for 3 months, so that the doctor can visit for regular checkups. He also needs medicines worth Rs. 35,000 for the next 4-6 months. Lijo was working as an electrician doing small-scale repair jobs since his health did not allow him to do any heavy jobs.
Lijo lost his mother to cancer in 2000 and his father died in 2010 after prolonged treatment for his kidney disease. He had to spend a lot of money for the treatment of both his parents, and this has left him in debt. The family has no means to support Lijo’s post-operative treatment, with his wife’s daily wage jobs. They are in desperate need of financial aid and reached out to MicroCharity for assistance.
