11-year old has been suffering from vomiting and stomach pain for the past 6 months. He was taken to a private hospital where they diagnosed a block in the blood vessels of the kidney and recommended immediate surgery. Since the family is very poor, they took him to a government hospital, where he has been under treatment for the past 4 months.
Recently he developed an infection in the kidney, and they were draining the pus using an external tube inserted through his stomach. A few days back, the doctors at government hospital said that the right kidney needs to be removed urgently. When some relatives of Alan showed his reports at a hospital in Ernakulam, they said that the condition would be corrected with a surgery to remove the block.
There is a possibility that the kidney would not need to be removed. The parents were overjoyed at this, but they do not have enough money to pay for the surgery, which would cost about Rs. 3 lakhs. Alan is going through a harrowing 5-hour surgery as I am writing this at 11 am on 3rd December. The family does not have any way to pay the hospital bill. Friends and well-wishers are chipping in with small amounts since Alan’s dad is a daily wage laborer who has no way to fund this surgery.
They approached MicroCharity for financial assistance. Since this is a critical cause, we request your help in closing the fund collection as early as possible, so that Alan’s family can worry about their son’s recovery, and not about the money to be paid.
