John had been suffering from varicose veins on his legs for the past 2 years. In May 2021, there was a serious infection, post which the doctors had to amputate 70 cm of his left leg. He used to sell fish from his two-wheeler before the surgery, but is unable to work now.
His wife was retired as an employee at a cashew factory, and is earning a monthly pension of Rs. 2500. John is very keen on getting a prosthetic leg fitted, so that he can earn a living and support his family. They enquired at an Artificial Limb Center and came to know that prosthetic legs cost between Rs. 60,000 to 12 lakhs.
The family has very little regular income, and is in no position to buy this artificial leg for John. So they approached MicroCharity for financial assistance.
