Shanthi Bangaru is a 24 year-old youngster from Dharmapuri, Tamilnadu. He lost his father years ago, and lives with his mother and sister. His mother bought up the children doing coolie jobs in their village. Tragedy struck them 8 years back, when Shanthi fell from a tree where he climbed to pluck some leaves for the village feast. He was paralyzed hip-down from the fall. His treatment was done at St.John’s hospital, Bangalore, where he was admitted once again recently because of bed sores.

In spite of the mishap, he is a very positive and enthusiastic person who looks at life with optimism. Tamilnadu government provided him a modified two-wheeler with 3 wheels, by which he is able to commute now. Shanti finished his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics last year and joined B.Ed. course in Shiva College of Education, Dharmapuri this year. But he has not been able to pay the college fee. Total fee for the course is Rs.58,000 and college has given him discount of Rs.17,000 on seeing his condition. He now needs Rs. 41,000 to be paid by March so that he can attend the final exam in May. He approached MicroCharity through a volunteer for financial assistance. There is bright chance that once he completes his course, he will get a job in government service as a teacher under differently abled quota.
