Fee for a meritorious student to continue Engineering Course

Ms. Nagarathna M (18 years) is the eldest daughter of Mr. Manjunath and Mrs. Jayamma.  She has a younger brother who is mentally challenged and a younger sister who studies in the 10th std. They live in Jambusavari Dinne, J.P. Nagar, 8th Phase, Bangalore – 76.  Her father Manjunath is a coolie worker and her mother Jayamma is sick who underwent two surgeries already and is a home maker.

Nagarathna is a meritorious student throughout her schooling days. Nagarathna passed her SSLC with 81.92% of marks and her PUC with 76%.  She appeared for the CET and got Govt. quota admission for Engineering in KS Institute of Technology, Kanakapura Main Road, Bangalore.  The government fee is Rs. 38, 500/- which she has to pay by July 30, 2012.  Her seat in the college was confirmed by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) only on July 25th. If she fails to pay the fees by July 30, she will loose the seat. She is looking for support from people of goodwill to support her to do her Engineering which will be a great dream come true.

Her father is trying to raise about Rs. 10,000 (which has to be through money lender with high interest) and few other good hearted people have promised about Rs. 15,000. She requested Rs. 13,500 from MicroCharity.

July 26, 2012 - MicroCharity approves the fund request
Microcharity approved the fund request of Rs. 13,500.  But open to receive more funds so that we can stop the father from going to money lenders who charge very high interest rate. Deadline for raising the fund is July 30, 2012.
July 27, 2012 - Course Fee is paid at the last minute!
The news paper today had a surprise for Nagarathna and also for us. The last date for the fee is not July 30th, but  TODAY. Nagarathna met us at Bangalore with her father. She could arrange only Rs. 15,000. And MicroCharity didn’t have enough fund for the rest of the fees. Anyways, we made an immediate approval for the additional fund, otherwise she will loose the seat. One of our volunteers borrowed the fund required and also made a Demand Draft just in time. Tears were running down the cheeks of her father as we handed over the demand draft. Amount paid: Rs. 26,540.

Nov 14, 2012 - Nagarathina is an engineering student now
Nagarathina is now a student at Computer Science & Engineering in KS Institute of Technology, Bangalore.  She scored 80% for 4 subjects and 70% for 2 subjects in her Internal exams. She is currently preparing for 1st semester university exams. She is very much inspired and hoping to complete the Engineering degree with good results.
July 15, 2013 - Fee for second year
Nagarathina made us proud by scoring a first class with distinction in the first semester. This is a very remarkable achievement, considering her family conditions. She has done well in the second semester examinations and is awaiting results.

She has to pay the second year fee of Rs. 58,000 soon; the government fee of Rs. 38,500 and the college fee of Rs. 19,500. MicroCharity is continuing to support her with the government fee of Rs. 38,500.

July 26, 2013 - Rs. 38,500 raised from 19 Donors
Rs. 38,500 raised from 17 Donors in about  11 days. We will paying the college fee shortly.
Aug 05, 2013 - College Fee Paid
Nagarathina’s college fee has been paid. We have paid Rs 48,000 as Nagarathina’s father could come up with only 10,000.
July 1, 2014 - Fee for Third year (MCID-117-14-15)
Nagarathina continues to makes us proud by doing well in her studies. She passed the last three semesters with distinction, and just completed her fourth semester exams. The third year (fifth and sixth semester) is starting in July and MicroCharity is helping her again with the college fee. The fee is increased to Rs.65,130 this year.

MicroCharity approves fund request for Rs.55,000.

July 14, 2014 - Fund raising closed
Rs. 55,000 raised from 16 Donations in about  7 days. We will be paying the college fee shortly.
July 13, 2015 - Fee for final year
Nagarathina continues to amaze us with her passion and perseverance. Her final year engineering classes start on July 20, and she has scored first class with distinction for all the previous semesters. She was working in a mall during holidays to earn money to buy her books and clothes.

Total fee for this year comes to Rs.63,000, out of which her father has promised to arrange Rs.10,000. So we decided to raise Rs.53,000 which has to be done on a war-footing so that it can be passed on to her college before the classes resume.

MicroCharity approves fund request of Rs.53,000.

July 20, 2015 - Fund raising closed
Rs. 53,000 raised from 14 Donations in about  7 days. We will be paying the fee directly to college shortly.

Aug 22, 2016 - Nagarathina is a Proud Engineer & IT Employee Now
Nagarathina has completed her Engineering with First Class with Distinction.  She also just secured a job at a multinational company in Electronic City, Bangalore as an Associate Software Engineer.  This is a remarkable achievement for her, considering her family background and what she had to go through.  So proud of her!  Way to go Nagarathina!!!
