Ramachandran, a 57-year-old paraplegic from Aluva, Kerala needs our support to complete payment for 2 previous surgeries and a third surgery that he needs urgently. He was a rubber-tapping worker. 19 years back he fell from a tree and was paralyzed waist-down. He is living with his wife, who does odd jobs when she is able to. Ramachandran’s son died in an accident some time back; his daughter is married and has 3 small children.
He recently had to be admitted at Rajagiri Hospital, Aluva to undergo treatment and surgery for non-healing ulcers, urinary tract infection, decubitus ulcers and traumatic paraplegia. He underwent 2 surgeries, one on 12th August and the second one on the 19th of August. The total bill was 2.1 lakhs. Since he did not have money, he paid Rs. 35,000 and was discharged from the hospital with the promise that they would bring the money when he came for the next surgery.
The next surgery is also very important, and crucial to his healing. But the family is in no position to pay for this treatment. Total cost would be Rs. 3 lakhs including the pending amount to be paid for the previous surgeries. They have no source of income other than the money that Ramachandran’s wife earns from the small jobs that she gets.
In this desperate situation, they approached MicroCharity through a volunteer.
