19 year old Mousumi has more difficulties in her life than most of us can imagine, and now she needs an urgent surgery to get her life back on track. She had a spinal cord injury which left her paralysed from waist down. She is now suffering from pressure ulcers, which are bed sores that form at parts of the body that don’t have enough blood circulation or movement. Since there is no pain or sensation, they worsened to second and third degree injuries where it has almost reached the bones causing protein leakage. These can be fatal in terms of causing infections and affecting kidneys, or affecting bones.
Doctors have advised a pressure flap and debridement surgery to reduce infections, which is to be done at the earliest. The surgery costs INR 1,50,000. Mousumi lives with her father who is a farmer, her mother who’s a home maker and three younger siblings who are still in school. She is a very spirited girl doing her second year BA. Literature. The family has very little money to pay for the surgery, and they approached MicroCharity for financial assistance.
