Ashamol, a 34 year old housewife from Ponkunnam in Kerala urgently needs our financial assistance to pay her medical bill after a heart surgery. She has been suffering from recurrent syncope and episodes of unconsciousness for the past 4 years, undergoing neurological evaluation and treatment for seizures. She is also on medication for rheumatoid arthritis. Recently, she was admitted to Muthoot hospital, Pathanamthitta with abnormal heart beats and had to undergo cardioversion multiple times to restore heart rhythm. After 4 days in the ICU, she was referred to a specialty hospital, where she underwent surgery to implant a cardioverter defibrillator.
Total cost for surgery was Rs. 3.75 lakhs of which 2.7 lakhs was paid through Kerala government’s Karunya scheme She is ready to be discharged, but the family has no means to pay the remaining Rs. 1.05 lakhs. They have raised Rs 55,000 through borrowing from friends and family. Ashamol’s husband is employed and she has a 2-year-old son. The family is now struggling to get her home, and they approached MicroCharity for financial assistance.
