Puneet, a 16-year old from Kamakshipalaya, Bangalore, needs our financial support in buying a wheelchair to that he can move around. He finished 10th standard this year with 70% marks and was planning to join PUC. On 19th May, 2016 he had gone to bed as usual and when he woke up the next morning, he couldn’t get up from bed. His entire body was paralyzed. They rushed him to St. John’s hospital, where doctors diagnosed his condition as GBS(Guillain-Barré Syndrome), a disorder in which the body’s immune system attacks part of the peripheral nervous system.

He was in ICU for 25 days, neuro ICU for 15 days and still in the hospital. He is slowly recovering and has reached a stage where he can sit in a chair and move his hands. He lost his father few years back due to liver cirrhosis. His mother works as a helper in a nearby factory and earns Rs.6000/month. He also has a younger sister studying in 6th standard. Puneet is in a position to get discharged from the hospital, but needs a wheel chair to move around.

The total cost of treatment so far is 5 lakhs. part of which was supported by the hospital and the rest, by an NGO. The family approached MicroCharity for financial support in buying a wheelchair, which would cost Rs.8,000.
