Shashi, a 65-year old from Kannur in Kerala needs an artificial leg so that he can continue carpentry work to support his family. An injury during work resulted in amputation of one of his legs 5 months ago, since he is a diabetic.
Shashi is now staying with his son, Abhilash who is also a carpenter. To add to the trials of this family, Abhilash was recently diagnosed with kidney failure. Both the kidneys have ceased to work, and he is in need of a transplantation. And now, Shashi has to go back to work so that he can support the family’s expenses and Abhilash’s treatment, with the help of an artificial leg. They have received a quote of Rs.1.1 lakhs from Endolite Prosthetic & Orthotic Center in Mangalore.
Friends and well-wishers have come forward to support them, but they are still short on funds to buy this artificial leg.
