Leela Vijayan from Thoppipala, Kerala and her family, which includes her disabled husband, and 2 children do not have a house to live in. She is a daily wage earner, working in a local plantation nearby. And providing for her family single-handedly with her meager income. Her daughter is of marriageable age, and her son is studying in ITI.They are staying in a temporary structure next to where the new house is currently being constructed. So they are keen to have the rooftop of their new house ready before the onset of the monsoon.
They have 3 cents of land in which to construct the house. The foundation has already been built with help from well-wishers. If the flooring is completed, local Panchayat will give a financial aid of Rs.2 lakhs. They approached MicroCharity for financial assistance for construction. The local panchayat member along with a MicroCharity contact person has promised to oversee the house construction to ensure that all funds are effectively utilized.
