Benny and family are going through very trying times and is in need of our support. He was running a small factory and the family was doing well till 2013, when Jhomol, his wife was diagnosed with carcinoma of the breast. Jhomol had 2 surgeries and 40 chemo sessions. Since the family could not afford this, they had to take a loan at exorbitant interest rates. Benny was not able to take care of his factory, which led to heavy debts and finally, closure. He started driving a taxi cab and is barely managing the medical and family expenses, along with the monthly interest on the loan.
His three children are doing very well in studies. Jiby, the eldest daughter is doing her 3rd year MBBS after securing a merit seat in Karnataka CET exams. Judy, the second daughter secured 94% in 10th standard and wants to do MBBS as well. Jestha, the younger daughter is studying in 8th standard. Jiby’s college fee for the 1st and 2nd year was paid with help from friends and well-wishers. Now, they are struggling to pay the fees for the 3rd year. Jhomol was recently diagnosed with a remission of the carcinoma and is under treatment at Amala hospital, Thrissur. Jiby wrote to MicroCharity herself, asking for financial assistance so that she can continue her studies. The total fee for 3rd year MBBS is Rs. 76,000.
